There is no one who deserved to be in the United Center Monday night more than Bob Gertenrich.
It was his 2,264th consecutive home game — an unmatched streak that started in 1966.
“I was just really happy,” said Gertenrich, a 68-year-old retired bachelor who lives in Skokie. I hugged the guy on the right and the woman on my left.”
“The Hawks, they’re like family,” Gertenrich said Tuesday morning. “I’m still euphoric.”
He had a great seat, like he has for years: Section 333, Row 1, Seat 18 – right above the goal the Blackhawks shoot against twice.
And he’ll be there for the 2015-2016 season, too:
“I’ve got a down payment down already for my season tickets next year.”
