Paul Vallas, Pat Quinn’s running mate for governor and the former CEO of Chicago Public Schools, is finally emerging in the campaign. And he’s playing the role of attack dog.

Quinn’s campaign announced that Vallas will talk to reporters at 10:30 a.m. today at Hotel Allegro about Bruce Rauner’s “scheme to cut education.”

Rauner’s campaign announced it will be sending Quinnocchio out at the same time and place to “highlight Pat Quinn’s education funding cuts.”

Rauner has called on lowering the state income tax to 3 percent. Quinn counters that means money for education would have to be cut. Rauner has called the contentions an attempt by Quinn to distract from his recent announcement that proposed an extension to the income tax hike to avoid cutting services.
