A man was shot while trying to break up a fight Friday in South Shore on the South Side.
Two females were fighting in the street shortly after 8 a.m. in the 7100 block of South Jeffery Boulevard when the 50-year-old man tried to intervene, according to Chicago police.
The son of one of the people involved in the fight fired two or three gunshots, hitting the man in the upper right arm and upper back, police said. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition stabilized.
Three suspects left the area in a vehicle, police said. Area Central detectives are investigating.
