Man shot during attempted robbery on Near West Side

He was driving in the 1500 block of West Monroe Street when someone on foot tried robbing him and shot into his vehicle, police said.

A 22-year-old man was shot Friday during an attempted robbery on the Near West Side.

He was driving his vehicle “slowly” about 5:25 a.m. near the 1500 block of West Monroe Street when someone on foot tried robbing him, Chicago police said. Shots were fired into the man’s vehicle, and he was struck in the back.

The man drove to Adams Street and Leamington Avenue where he stopped, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition was stabilized.

No arrests have been made. Area North detectives are investigating.
