A man was killed in a shooting Tuesday in Austin on the West Side.

He was standing near an alley about 5 p.m. in the 100 block of North Mayfield Avenue when a black SUV on the other side of the alley dropped off someone who pulled out a gun and opened fire, Chicago police said.

The 30-year-old was struck multiple times to his chest and abdomen, police said. He was taken Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Darry Judon Toney. Autopsy results released Wednesday confirmed he died of multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.

The latest incident is the second fatal shooting in less than a week on the same block. On Aug. 22, 31-year-old Devon Nelson was found fatally shot in the 100 block of North Mayfield.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
