A man was fatally shot by a family member during an argument Sept. 4, 2020, in the 9900 block of South Van Vlissingen Road.

A man was killed in a shooting Friday in Jeffery Manor on the South Side.

The 35-year-old was at a party about 11 p.m. in the 9900 block of South Van Vlissingen Road when he got into an argument with a male family member, according to Chicago police. The relative pulled out a gun and shot the man in the abdomen.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Christopher Hines.

The suspect was taken into custody and a weapon was recovered at the scene, police said. Area Two detectives are investigating.
