Two 15-year-olds, a boy and a girl, were shot and wounded within blocks of each other and just two hours apart on the West Side Monday night.

The attacks followed a weekend when six children 15 and younger were wounded across Chicago, more than half of them on the West Side as well.

The girl was wounded in the back in Boler Park near the John Milton Gregory Math and Science Academy, according to police. A gunman walked up and started shooting around 7:30 p.m. , police said. She was taken in good condition to Stroger Hospital.

Police said she was not the intended target, but released no other details. No one was in custody.

The boy was shot in the back and arm around 9:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Lawndale Avenue, a stretch of vacant lots and churches about half a mile from where the girl was shot.

Again, police released few details of the shooting other than a gunman approaching and firing. The boy was taken in good condition to Stroger.

No one was in custody.

  • The fatal attack occurred in West Town just after 1 a.m. A 38-year-old man was standing on the sidewalk in the 100 block of North Morgan Street when someone in a silver sedan fired shots, Chicago police said. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
  • Four men were wounded in Homan Square on the West Side, less than a mile from where the girl was shot. They were outside in the 3300 block of West Flournoy Street when someone fired about 9:15 p.m. A 47-year-old man was struck multiple times, while another man, 22, was shot in the face. Both were taken to Stroger Hospital, where the older man was in critical condition and the younger man was in good condition. The third man, 43, was shot in the thigh and was also in good condition at St. Anthony Hospital. A 46-year-old man who was also shot in the thigh was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
  • A 17-year-old boy was wounded in Rogers Park on the North Side. He was in the 6700 block of North Greenview Avenue when he was shot in the buttocks about 5:35 p.m., police said. The teen was taken to a hospital in good condition. Police did not release more details.
  • A man was in critical condition after being shot in East Garfield Park. He was standing in the 3500 block of West Fulton Street when someone pulled up in a light-colored car and opened fire outside about 4 p.m., police said. The 22-year-old was struck in the neck and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

Five others were wounded in shootings citywide.

Ten people were killed and 50 others were wounded over the weekend in Chicago.
