The Cubs and Mayor Lori Lightfoot have yet to agree on a plan that would pave the way for Wrigley Field to welcome fans to games in 2020.
But the Wrigley rooftops? Likely a different story.
According to a WGN report, the City of Chicago approved the opening of the rooftops at 25% capacity for the season. This, less than a week after Cubs president of business operations Crane Kenney said he expected rooftops to be open for business from Game 1 on.
Kenney also said he expected the Cubs to be able to bring in roughly 8,000 fans — or 20% capacity — at the ballpark for games, but Lightfoot cooled that talk, calling it premature. Rooftop seats are, of course, far less plentiful.

The Ricketts family, which owns the Cubs, also owns 11 of the 16 rooftop clubs along Waveland and Sheffield avenues.
According to the WGN report, rooftop tickets are expected to go on sale when MLB releases its 2020 schedule. That could happen by the end of the week.
