DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2011

In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the morning, the President will meet with a bicameral, bipartisan group of legislators to discuss the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, also known as No Child Left Behind, in the Roosevelt Room. Meeting participants include Senators Tom Harkin, Mike Enzi, Jeff Bingaman, Lamar Alexander and Representatives John Kline, George Miller, Duncan Hunter, and Dale Kildee. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will also be in attendance. The President looks forward to working with this bipartisan group of leaders to revise the federal law so that it is more fair, flexible, and focused on helping all students to graduate ready for college and careers. There will be a spray for pool still photographers only.

In the afternoon, the President and the Vice President will meet with House Democratic Leadership for lunch in the Oval Office. Meeting attendees include White House Chief of Staff Bill Daley, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer and Assistant Democratic Leader James Clyburn. This lunch is closed press.

Later, the President will sign the John M. Roll United States Courthouse Bill in the Oval Office. There will be a spray for pool still photographers only.

Later in the afternoon, the President will travel to San Francisco, California. The departure from the South Lawn and the arrival at San Francisco International Airport are open press.

In the evening, the President will meet with a number of business leaders in technology and innovation at a private residence. The meeting is a part of our ongoing dialogue with the business community on how we can work together to win the future, strengthen our economy, support entrepreneurship, and get the American people back to work. The President and the business leaders will discuss our shared goal of promoting American innovation and discuss his commitment to new investments in research and development, education and clean energy. This meeting is closed press.

The President will spend the night in San Francisco, California.
