SHARE Woman dies following expressway crash near Lansing

(LANSING) A woman in her 50s died following a crash Thanksgiving Day on I-80/94 in south suburban Lansing.

The crash happened about 3 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the expressway near Torrence Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and State Police.

The woman was a passenger in the front seat of a vehicle that hit a wall on the right side of the roadway, authorities said.

She was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where she was pronounced dead at 6:10 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. The woman in her 50s has only been tentatively identified and her name is not being released Friday evening.

An autopsy found she died of multiple injuries from a motor vehicle striking a fixed object and ruled her death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

State Police are investigating.
