Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy is expected to announce charges Wednesday afternoon in the death of 12-year-old Jahmeshia Conner, found murdered in an Englewood alley in 2009.

McCarthy will announce the charges at a press conference Wednesday afternoon at police headquarters.

Conner was found strangled in an alley in Englewood in 2009, two weeks after she’d been reported missing, the Chicago Sun-Times reported at the time.

The girl’s family was notified of the charges this morning, and have requested privacy, police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
