A Libertyville man who was found dead Friday in the northwest suburb after he was missing for more than three months died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, an autopsy found.

Daniel Nerstrom, 30, was first reported missing from his Libertyville home on Dec. 1, 2014, Libertyville police said in a statement.

About 10 a.m. Friday, officers responded to a report of a body lying along railroad tracks just east of the Libertyville Metra station, police said. The body was found about a quarter-mile east of the station.

Authorities later identified the body as Nerstrom’s, police said. An autopsy later found that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the mouth.

Police said that no foul play is suspected.
