(GARY, Ind.) A man was found shot to death near a vacant high school late Saturday night in northwest Indiana.

Officers responded about 11 p.m. to a call of shots fired in the 500 block of Garfield Street in Gary, Gary Police Lt. Thomas Pawlak said.

They discovered 26-year-old Billie Young laying facedown on the field track at the vacant Horace Mann High School, Pawlak said.

Young, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Pawlak and the Lake County coroner’s office. He lived in the 100 block of 11th Avenue in Gary.

His death was ruled a homicide.

No one is in custody as of Sunday morning, Pawlak said.
