3 injured in Kennedy Expressway crash

One person suffered serious injuries but was expected to survive, state police said.

A crash Tuesday on the Kennedy Expressway left three people injured and one vehicle engulfed in flames.

A vehicle was stalled in a southbound lane about 9:50 p.m. when it was rear-ended by another vehicle near North Avenue, Illinois State Police. One of the two vehicles went up in flames.

Two people were taken to Stroger Hospital, one of them with serious but not life-threatening injuries, state police said. Another person was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

All lanes were reopened about 10:45 p.m., state police said.
