A body discovered in a garage last week in the South Side Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood has been identified as a west suburban man.

The 49-year-old was found in a garage in the 7100 block of South Champlain about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He was later identified as Michael Franklin of the 100 block of Placid Avenue in Glendale Heights, according to the medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy was inconclusive, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area South detectives are conducting a death investigation.
