President Barack Obama delayed an executive order to curb deportations until after the election, and on Wednesday — no matter the outcomes of the midterms — Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., will step up pressure on the White House to take action.
The Northwest Side lawmaker, expected to glide to re-election on Tuesday, will discuss the ”urgent need for immigration prosecutorial discretion and executive action on the part of the Obama Administration and will be joined by local advocates and leaders” at a press conference in Chicago with local immigration reform activists at the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights office in the Loop.
