A northwest Indiana man is facing several charges after a crash that left two Chicago Police officers injured early Sunday in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

Timothy Terrazas, 35, of Hobart, Ind., is charged with several misdemeanors and citations, including DUI, driving on a suspended license, driving/never issued a license, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, not wearing a seatbelt, negligent driving, disobey red light, failure to stop at stop sign and no registration, according to Chicago Police.

About 1:10 a.m., officers pulled over a cargo van in the 3200 block of North Long, but the van sped off as officers got out of the vehicle and walked up, police said.

The van, which was carrying five people, then sped through a red light and crashed into another squad car at the intersection of Belmont and Long, police said. The van also struck two parked vehicles before it stopped.

Two officers, both men, were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the van, later identified as Terrazas, was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said. Four other male occupants of the van refused medical attention.
