A driver has been ticketed after a man was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday morning in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.
The vehicle was northbound in the 11800 block of South Halsted about 11 a.m. when the driver lost control. The vehicle struck a light pole and then a pedestrian, police said.
The victim, 46-year-old Larry Jordan, was walking on the east side of the street when he was struck, police said. Jordan, of the 11800 block of South Emerald, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 19-year-old Calumet City man, stayed at the scene of the crash, police said. He was issued citations for driving within a parkway and speeding.
