LIVE BLOG: Voting begins for U.S. House whip

House Republicans will begin voting for a new whip at about 1 p.m. Central Time today.

Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill., is in the running to become the No. 3 leader in House GOP ranks. He’s pitted against Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., and Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind.

The balloting is secret, and winning takes 117 votes — or 51 percent of the 233 House GOP members. A second vote is possible.
