Two people were found fatally stabbed inside a home Wednesday morning in northwest Indiana.

Officers were called about 11:40 a.m. for a well-being check on a woman at the home in the 900 block of West 24th Avenue in Gary, according to a statement from Gary police.

Aretha Laster, 38, and 57-year-old Michael A. Campbell were both found dead inside the home with multiple stab wounds, according to police and the Lake County coroner’s office.

Laster, who lived in the home, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:51 p.m., the coroner’s office said.

Campbell, of the 2300 block of Pierce Street in Gary, was also pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

Both of their deaths were ruled homicides.
