A fire in the Back of the Yards neighborhood early Saturday left two people dead and another in critical condition, according to fire officials.

The fire occurred in the 5400 block of South Laflin and was struck out about 2 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs.

Two people, whose ages and genders were not disclosed, died in the fire, according to fire media. A third was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

The Chicago Police Department’s Bomb and Arson Unit was investigating the fire, police said.

Additional details were not immediately available.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
