A 29-year-old North Side man was shot to death in the Jackson Park Highlands neighborhood Thursday night on the South Side.

About 9:15 p.m., Andre Wells was walking in the 6700 block of South Chappel when someone walked up and shot him in the chest, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Wells was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:02 p.m., authorities said. He lived in the 4400 block of North Magnolia.

Police said the shooting was thought to be gang-related. No one was in custody for the shooting as of Saturday afternoon.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
