A north suburban driver received a traffic citation after his car struck and seriously injured three pedestrians early Saturday in Wicker Park.

The 44-year-old man at the wheel had a green light as he was going southbound on Ashland at Division about 4 a.m. when the car hit three people who weren’t in a crosswalk, according to Chicago Police.

A man and woman, both 20, were taken in serious condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with concussions and broken legs, police said. The man also broke his jaw.

The other pedestrian, a 21-year-old woman, was treated and released from Stroger Hospital.

The driver, a Northbrook resident, wasn’t hurt. He was ticketed for failure to exercise due care and has a traffic court date in January.
