An emergency pothole repair, which required a lane closure on the Stevenson Expressway near southwest suburban Bolingbrook, was completed Thursday afternoon.

The right southbound lane of I-55 over Illinois 53 was closed until about 5 p.m., according to a statement from the Chicago Department of Transportation.

The bridge where the repair took place is part of a larger patching project to improve I-55 between Weber Road and the Veterans Memorial Tollway. The work is expected to start in late October, CDOT said.
