A man has been charged with shooting another man after an argument over traffic in north suburban Evanston in February.

Christopher D. Lawson, 29, was charged with one felony count of aggravated battery with a firearm, according to a statement from Evanston police.

About 8:45 p.m. Feb. 10, a 45-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle in a parking lot in the 900 block of Howard Street when a man approached and began arguing with him about a previous traffic altercation, police said.

The man then pulled out a handgun and fired shots, police said. The victim was struck once in the left arm and was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was treated and released.

Lawson was identified as the shooter and arrested Monday in the 1900 block of Dempster Street in Evanston, police said.

Lawson, of the 5900 block of North Clark Street in Chicago, was ordered held on a $150,000 bond during a hearing Tuesday at the Skokie courthouse. He is next scheduled to appear in court May 3.
