Man fatally shot in Roseland

A 22-year-old man was fatally shot in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side Friday night.

Kendall Smith, of the 11200 block of South Indiana, was standing on the sidewalk in the 11200 block of South Michigan about 9:30 p.m. when he heard gunfire and felt pain, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 10:58 p.m., authorities said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
