A man was critically wounded early Monday in a South Deering neighborhood shooting on the Far South Side.

Officers responding at 1:55 a.m. to a call of shots fired in the 10100 block of South Exchange found the 26-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the back, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.
