A northwest Indiana man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 80 in south suburban Lansing Thursday night.

Wieslaw Bieszczad, 52, was riding a motorcycle westbound on the interstate near mile marker 167.75 about 7 p.m. when he lost control and crashed, according to the Lake County Indiana coroner’s office and Illinois State Police.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to police.

Bieszczad, of Hammond, was taken to Franciscan St. Margaret Health, also in Hammond, where he was pronounced dead at 8:04 p.m., according to the coroner’s office.

The cause of the crash remained under investigation early Friday, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
