Man fatally shot in Brainerd

A man was fatally shot early Sunday in the Brainerd neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 2:25 a.m. found Kiev Dobbins, 24, lying in a gangway in the 8900 block of South Laflin, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Dobbins, of the 9000 block of South Laflin, was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
