A woman who was struck by a CTA bus while crossing an intersection in the Near North Side neighborhood filed a lawsuit against the transit authority and bus driver Friday.

About 12:34 p.m. Sept. 17, 2015, Stacy Stevens was crossing the intersection of Dearborn and Kinzie with the crosswalk signal, according to the suit. About the same time, the bus driver approached the intersection without slowing down and instead began honking the horn.

As Stevens approached the other curb, she looked to her right and was struck by the bus, the suit said. The driver applied the brakes upon impact, but Stevens was thrown about six feet after her head cracked the windshield of the bus.

The driver was issued a ticket for failure to exercise due care for a pedestrian, the suit said.

The suit seeks more than $100,000 in damages.

A spokeswoman for the CTA declined to comment on pending litigation Friday night.
