Bears continue to have a looooong list of injured players

The Bears’ list of injured players remains long. Here’s a rundown from practice Tuesday of the notable ailing Bears.

* Receiver Eddie Royal, tight end Zach Miller and cornerback Jacoby Glenn are still recovering from concussions. All three players were in full equipment, but they were wearing red non-contact jerseys.

* Outside linebacker Leonard Floyd (hamstring), defensive end Cornelius Washington (knee/ankle) and running back Ka’Deem Carey (concussion) practiced in some capacity.

* Outside linebacker Pernell McPhee (knee, physically-unable-to-perform list) continued to run and train with the Bears’ medical staff during practice.

* Right guard Kyle Long (shoulder), running back Jeremy Langford (foot), linebacker Danny Trevathan (hamstring), cornerback Bryce Callahan (hamstring), linebacker Nick Kwiatkoski (hamstring) and tight end Tony Moeaki (hamstring) worked with trainers.

Coach John Fox was asked specifically if he thinks Long will be ready by Week 1.

“It doesn’t really matter what I think,” Fox said. “There are medical people involved, and when he’s cleared, he’ll play.”

* Rookie tight end Ben Braunecker (ankle) returned to practice for the first time since getting injured early on in Bourbonnais. Running back Senorise Perry (hamstring) also returned.

* Special-teamer Lamin Barrow left practice because of a foot injury. Kick returner Deonte Thompson (ankle), safety Deon Bush (undisclosed) and cornerback Kyle Fuller (knee) sat out.

Bush was evaluated for an apparent head injury during the preseason game against the Patriots, but returned.

Missing rookies

Rookie defensive end Jonathan Bullard, the third-round pick from Florida, has missed two consecutive practices.

Fox said Bullard remains excused for personal reasons. He didn’t participate in practice Sunday or Tuesday. The team was off on Monday.

Asked if Bullard’s situation would prevent him from playing Saturday in the exhibition game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Fox replied, “More than likely not.”

Cornerback Deiondre’ Hall left practice early after vomiting on the field. Receiver Kieren Duncan and linebacker Jarrett Grace also sat out with illnesses.

“A little bit of a bug going around,” Fox said.

Game-day schedule

The Bears’ practices are scheduled this week as if Saturday’s exhibition, which is at noon, were a typical Sunday game in the regular season.

“The more you can expose guys to scheduling [and] kind of what you’re expecting in the preparation, I think the better,” Fox said.
