(ELMWOOD PARK) A west suburban man died early Thursday of injuries suffered when he was struck by a vehicle, an autopsy Friday revealed.

Julio Garza, 45, was struck by a vehicle and died at a nursing home in the 7700 block of West Grand Avenue in Elmwood Park, authorities said.

Garza, whose home address was listed on that same block, was taken to Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, where he was pronounced dead at 2:06 a.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy Friday found Garza died of multiple injuries suffered when he was struck by the motor vehicle, and his death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

Elmwood Park Deputy Police Chief Andrew Hock said the man was not struck by the car on Grand Avenue, but was probably cared for after the incident at Elmwood Care, a nursing home.

The place and time of the accident were not known, Hock said.
