Man with gunshot wound walks into Oak Park hospital

A man with a gunshot wound to the hip walked into a west suburban hospital Thursday afternoon and told authorities he was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

The man, 23, was shot in the hip and walked into West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park about 4:35 p.m., police said. His condition later stabilized.

The man told investigators he was shot in the 5000 block of West Division, police said.

Police said the man is a documented gang member.
