A man was found shot dead Friday night in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side.

Joshua Rockett, 21, was found unresponsive with gunshot wounds at 7:36 p.m. in the 9000 block of South Laflin, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Rockett, of the 9200 block of South Wallace, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:57 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy on Saturday found he died of a gunshot wound to the back and his death was ruled a homicide.

Police had no updates on the investigation late Saturday.
