Police are cautioning Washington Park residents after several burglaries were reported in homes throughout the neighborhood during the month of November.

In each case, suspects broke into homes through the back door or back window, according to an alert issued by Area Central detectives.

The burglaries occurred on:

-Nov. 17 in the 5800 block of South Prairie between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

-Nov. 18 in the 5800 block of South Indiana before 2 p.m.

-Nov. 20 in the 5600 block of South Wabash before 11:50 a.m.

-Nov. 21 in the 5600 block of South Wentworth between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

-Nov. 22 in the 100 block of East 58th Street between 1:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

-Nov. 26 in the 5700 block of South Prairie some time before 1 p.m.

-Nov. 27 in the 5600 block of South Wabash some time before 2 p.m.

-Some time between November 28 – 29 in the 57000 block of South Michigan.

Police advise residents to keep their property’s perimeter well lit and doors and windows secured. Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to call police at (312) 747-8382.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
