Three Chicago Police officers and another person were hurt in a crash on the South Side Wednesday night.

About 8:12 p.m., the three officers were traveling west on 87th Street in a marked squad car when they tried to turn north onto Loomis, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

While the officers were turning, their car was hit by a white sedan also traveling west on 87th Street, Alfaro said.

The officers were listed in “serious but stable” condition, he added. The injuries weren’t thought to be life-threatening.

A passenger in the sedan, a 22-year-old man who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition after his head struck the windshield, Alfaro said.

The driver, another 22-year-old man, was not injured, but received citations for driving without insurance and for having a passenger without a seatbelt.

The CTA temporarily rerouted 87th Street buses traveling in both directions, but normal schedules resumed about 11:40 p.m.
