If you guessed that Jay-Z or Beyonce or Jennifer Lopez or Justin Bieber was the richest musician around — you’d be wrong.

According to Forbes magazine, the guy on top for 2014 is none other than rapper and business mogul Dr. Dre, who raked in a cool $620 million. The reason? It’s mostly from the sale of his Beats headphones biz to Apple for a cool $3 billion.

According to Forbes, the only one to come close to Dr. Dre was, in fact, Beyonce, who earned about $115 million from her “Mrs. Carter” world tour, self-titled “secret album” and endorsement deal fees from the H&M fashion chain and Pepsi.

Proving the oldies still sell well, the Eagles veteran rockers came in third, making about $100 million. Bon Jovi ($82 million) and Bruce Springsteen ($81 million) round out the top five earners.

Justin Bieber came in sixth with $80 million, No. 7 went to the boy band One Direction ($75 million) — outstripping music legend Paul McCartney, who made $71 million and secured eighth place.

DJ Calvin Harris continued to show he’s hot, earning $66 million for ninth place, just ahead of Toby Keith (the top-rated country singer), who was No. 10.

Just out of that Top 10 was Taylor Swift, who reportedly made $64 million this year, bringing her in at 11th place.

Poor baby.
