A man was shot and critically wounded in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side Monday evening.

About 6:10 p.m., the 25-year-old was in the 1700 block of West 85th Street when an “unknown offender or offenders” got out of a vehicle and opened fire, police said.

The man was shot in the abdomen and buttocks. The suspect or suspects then drove off, police said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
