(DOWNERS GROVE) Police are investigating a reported burglary that sparked a SWAT team search at a west suburban apartment building Wednesday afternoon.

Officers first responded to the 2800 block of Gabriella Street about 2:40 p.m. for a report of a burglary in progress, said Lt. Mike Willison, a spokesman for Downers Grove police.

Residents said the suspect may have still been inside, so police set up a perimeter around the building and called a SWAT team to search the premises, Willison said.

No one was found and police continue to investigate, he said.

The resident of the unit where the burglary was reported was at home at the time, but was not injured, Willison said. No one else was hurt, and police are still determining whether anything was taken.

The building is part of The Residences at the Grove. Dennis Kent, who lives in the building, said two other burglaries were reported there recently, and that building management had cautioned residents to not let anyone into the building without a key.
