Man shot to death in Gary

(GARY, Ind.) A 20-year-old man died Saturday night after he was shot multiple times in northwest Indiana.

DeShelon Hicks suffered multiple gunshot wounds at his home in the 2200 block of East 19th Place in Gary, according to the Lake County (Ind.) coroner’s office.

He was pronounced dead in the emergency room of Methodist Hospital Northlake in Gary at 11:28 p.m., according to the coroner’s office.

Hicks’ death has been ruled a homicide.

Gary police could not immediately be reached for comment.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
