Police are warning businesses about a pair of robberies reported this month in the Uptown and Edgewater neighborhoods on the North Side.

In both robberies, someone entered a business, displayed a handgun to employees and announced a robbery, according to a business alert from Chicago Police. The suspect then took money from a cash register and safe before running away.

In one of the robberies, the suspect forced all employees into a back room before taking the money and leaving, police said.

The first robbery was reported in the 5000 block of North Sheridan about 7 a.m. on Nov. 10, police said. The other occurred in the 5900 block of North Ridge at 6:50 a.m.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
