Streamwood man charged with sexually assaulting girl in 2012

(DEKALB) A northwest suburban man was behind bars Monday afternoon after being charged with molesting a child in rural DeKalb County.

DeKalb County sheriff’s officers began investigating after reports of a child being sexually assaulted were made by a “mandated reporter,” who notified DCFS, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

It was learned that the victim, a minor child, had been assaulted on more than one occasion by 46-year-old Paul K. Barksdale, of Streamwood, police said.

The alleged incidents took place in the 100 block of West Meadow Street in Cortland, about 15 miles west of St. Charles, in February 2012, police said.

Barksdale, of the 200 block of Kosan Circle in Streamwood, was charged with three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, the statement said.

He was being held in the DeKalb County Jail pending a bond hearing.
