(PORTAGE, Ind.) A trio of masked men wielding a gun held up a gas station at an Indiana Toll Road travel plaza in northwest Indiana late Thursday, then drove out through an employee parking area.

The BP station on the eastbound side of Indiana Toll Road was robbed about 11:24 p.m. Thursday and the robbers got away with cash and cigarettes, according to Indiana State Police.

Three black males, each wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts, entered the station at mile marker 21.7, just east of the Porter/Lake County Line, and held up the attendant at gunpoint, according to a statement from ISP. The attendant was not injured.

The suspects ran out the back gate on the far south side of the lot, an area used for employee parking, according to ISP. The road from that parking area leads to a residential area in Portage.

State police ask anyone who saw or noticed anything to call (574) 206-2941.
