SHARE Police warn of armed robberies in Washington Park

Police are warning residents on the South Side of a recent string of armed robberies in the Washington Park neighborhood.

In three recent incidents, two men walk up, threatening violence with a weapon and take property, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The robberies happened:

– about 9:35 p.m. Dec. 5 in the 6200 block of South Prairie

– about 2:50 a.m. Nov. 30 in the 6000 block of South Michigan

– about 6:30 p.m. Nov. 25 in the 6000 block of South Michigan

Suspect descriptions vary, but the robbers are generally described as two black men between the ages of 20 and 25, weighing between 150 and 175 pounds, standing between 5-feet-6 and 6-feet, wearing black hooded sweatshirts, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
