A woman died Sunday morning after her vehicle was involved in a head-on crash in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Bessie English, 63, was driving westbound in a 1993 Ford Escort in the 2700 block of West Division about 7:50 a.m. when her vehicle crashed head-on into another vehicle, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Two people who were in the other vehicle ran away after the crash, police said.

English, of the 900 block of North Waller, was taken to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 9:22 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy Monday found she died of multiple injuries from the crash and ruled her death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.
