You may have seen him pop up on your television last night during President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.
You probably wondered who he was.
And you probably made a comment about his hair.
But this is Ernest Moniz, the U.S. Secretary of Energy, and in the last 24 hours, he has gained quite a bit of notoriety. Or should we say his hair has gained quite a bit of notoriety.
Moniz sat out last year’s address because he was the “designated survivor.” That’s the person who goes to a secure location during the address and would immediately become president in the event a disaster wipes everyone at the U.S. Capitol.
Tuesday night, he was in the house.
Once he was put on camera, social media took over.

Moniz doesn’t mind all the fuss about his hair.
He’s described it as “flowy” and “a bit curly,” and it hasn’t changed since the 1970s.
