Body found after Chicago Lawn garage fire

The body of a female was found Monday night after a fire in a garage in the Southwest Side Chicago Lawn neighborhood.

Officers responded to a garage fire in the 6600 block of South Campbell about 11:30 a.m., police said. After the fire was extinguished, authorities found what appeared to be a dead female.

The body was “severely burned” and an autopsy Tuesday was inconclusive, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The female remains unidentified.
