SHARE Burglar targeting Northwest Side garages

Police issued an alert Wednesday warning Northwest Side residents of several garage burglaries in the Belmont Cragin and Hermosa neighborhoods.

The suspect forces the overhead garage door open and steals snow blowers, lawn mowers, power tools and other objects, according to the community alert from Area North detectives.

Burglaries happened:

— in the 2200 block of North LeClaire between 5-9:30 p.m. on Jan. 8-9 and Jan. 14-15;

—in the 4900 block of West Wellington between 5-8:30 p.m. on Jan. 15;

—in the 4600 block of West Dickens about 7 p.m. on Jan. 15 and 1 p.m. on Jan. 16;

—in the 2100 block of North Kildare between 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Jan. 19; and

—in the 2800 and 2900 blocks of North Kildare between 11 a.m. -9:30 p.m. on Jan. 20.

The suspect is described as a white man 20-35, 5-foot-9 to 6-foot, and 180-185 pounds, wearing a black ski mask.
