The second of three men convicted of an armed robbery more than two years ago near a Blue Line station on the West Side has been sentenced to 31 years in prison.

Jeffrey Loving, 49, was previously convicted of armed robbery with a firearm for the March 2013 incident, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office.

The victim was walking toward a CTA station about 9:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of West Congress Parkway with his wallet in his hand when he was approached by Loving and Antoine Hotchkiss, prosecutors said.

Loving pointed a loaded gun at the man and took more than $200 from the wallet, while Hotchkiss acted as a lookout, prosecutors said. Loving and Hotchkiss then got into a car driven by Johnnie Rivera and drove off.

The victim flagged down a passing vehicle and followed the suspects, prosecutors said. When they were stopped at a traffic light, the victim alerted Chicago Police officers who were patrolling in the area.

The suspects were arrested and the loaded weapon used in the robbery was recovered, prosecutors said. The victim identified all three suspects.

On Monday, Judge Maura Slattery Boyle sentenced Loving to 31 years in prison, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

Loving has previous convictions for aggravated battery to a police officer, unlawful use of a weapon, robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, and multiple drug offenses, prosecutors said.

Hotchkiss was previously sentenced to 22 years in prison, and Rivera is serving a four-year term.
