Bless Lake Michigan’s mysteries.
On Saturday, John Zubak of Wheaton caught a 26-inch walleye while fishing with Capt. Ralph Steiger.
“Nine years of guiding and we just put our first southern Lake Michigan walleye in the boat!!!’’ Steiger exclaimed.
It came while they jigged in 16 feet of water with a classic walleye bait, a 1/2-ounce Big Dude Blade Bait in willow cat.
“Not the best pic, but we wanted to get it back in quick without killing it,’’ Steiger messaged.
FOTW, the celebration of big fish and good stories around Chicago fishing, appears Wednesdays on the Sun-Times outdoors page.
